There is so much happening here at Sawyers. Mrs Blair has got our Hundreds Club up and running. Kids and parents (and staff) are encouraged to come down to the oval before and after school to walk around the oval. The target is to reach 100 laps. Some have already passed that and are closer to 200 laps!
Our Just Dance Competition is also running during most lunchtimes. Students ‘dance off’ against other students in a knock out style competition using the Nintendo Wii. So far we have gone through about 40 of the 64 contestants and the competition is close!
Students from years 5 & 6(and some 4s) attended the Lightning Carnival last Thursday to play Hockey, Netball and Football against d=some of the other local schools. Lots of fun was had by all, and most children went home very tired! We look forward to our Winter Fixtures over the next few weeks.
Our Visiting Artist – Neil Elliott, finished his last session today. Students have created some fantastic art works using mixed media. Some of these will be displayed later.
Rehearsals are in full swing for next term’s School Production. Both the senior and junior productions look awesome and funny with some great songs. We can’t wait to perform them!
The Spelling Bee returns next week. Students will compete against local schools, and we wish them luck.
Added to this list of happenings, we also have – The Green Team, Sustainability, Chickens and more. Somewhere in there the students go to class and learn about all sorts of other stuff! It’s exhausting but fun!
I forgot to mention Dancing Lessons on Mondays, and Mrs Jones is running Coderdojo computer coding club after school on Fridays. Also there are changes happening in the Nature Play Area so stay tuned for more.
Coming up is the Walk to School day with a healthy breakfast and the school disco and free dress days are on later this term.
