Last Friday I was lucky enough to be able to take a group of selected students along to Chidlow Primary School to participate in their special World Environment Day celebrations.
We participated in a range of brilliant activities over the course of the day that were run by invited guests. We met Norma McDonald (Noongar author and illustrator), Tanya from the Water corporation, SERCUL, Earth Assist Volunteers, the amazing Kanyana wildlife crew, the Mens Shed (including Ellh’s and Niko’s grandad), Nearer to Nature, EMRC rep Bronwyn and the Keep Australia Beautiful crew amongst others.
We got to… engage in art, play games, make stuff out of recycled material, learn how to sensitively trap wildlife for research, make recyclable plant pots, plant native seeds, learn more about our local frogs, play a litter relay, learn about our water cycle and the list goes on…
The Chidlow students were super friendly and the Sawyers crew were incredibly enthusiastic and pleasure to spend the day with! Thank you to our parent helpers, Laura, Lee and Troy!
