Science Week has been full of messy exploring and investigating, as student took on the challenge of finding which everyday materials would best clean up an oil spill. This was in response to the real-world problem being faced in Mauritius after a ship ran aground on a reef on July 25, spilling over 1000 tonnes of fuel oil into the ocean. Students were really engaged in considering this problem, discussing the impact on the environment and the local economy, and considering what it would be like to live in this pristine environment that has been effected by an oil spill.
