During Term 3 at Sawyers Valley Primary School, every student from Kindergarten to Year 6 participated in a series of lessons about Protective Behaviours.

These lessons teach children that everyone has the right to feel safe at all times.

Every child prepared a cut-out of their hand where each finger has the name of someone they can go to if they are ever feeling unsafe. Even if they have been told not to talk about something, there will be someone on their ‘network hand’ that they should talk to if they are feeling unsafe.

The children all enjoyed making and decorating their cut-out hands. Please ask your children to tell you all about their ‘hands’ and ask them if they know the difference between safe secrets and unsafe secrets!
