Our sound box activity has been very popular with students bringing in items that match our sound of the week and discovering these sounds in the classroom too. I have been amazed with the ideas the children have come up with and the thought they have put into this activity.
We have been busily working away on building our houses of the three little pigs. For the last 2 weeks we have been building our house of sticks while painting and building our house of bricks( egg cartons). Thank you to all those parents who have supplied us with egg cartons for this program the children are loving it!
As we are becoming better and better writers our focus turns to punctuation. While many children can tell you where capital letters and full stops go it is another matter using them in their writing. We are now looking to editing our writing looking for correct formation and size of letters and appropriate punctuation.
In maths we continue our focus on addition and the strategies that help us in this area. We have moved on from writing our sums horizontally to vertically thus preparing for using higher numbers and looking at place value.
